About the Author

Richard W. Mansbach is Professor of Political Science at Iowa State University, USA.

He has held Fulbright Scholarships to Singapore and Korea, spent several years with the National Intelligence Council and has been a USIS speaker in a variety of countries including India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

He is the author, co-author or editor of eleven books on international-relations theory, including, World of Polities (2008), Politics: Authority, Identities, and Change (1996), The State, Conceptual Chaos, and the Future of International Relations (1989), The Elusive Quest: Theory and International Politics (1988), In Search of Theory: Toward a New Paradigm for Global Politics (1981), and The Web of World Politics: Nonstate Actors in the Global System (1976). He is also the author of several texts including Structure and Process in International Politics (1973) and The Elusive Quest (2000), as well as co-editor of Global Politics in a Changing World (2001). He has also contributed numerous articles, book chapters and papers on IR theory. Professor Mansbach is a former co-editor of the International Studies Quarterly .
